Wire Drawing Introduction

In the wire drawing, the required deformation is drawing wire passing through the tapered hole portion of the wire dies, in this, reduced diameter by plastic deformation. In the deformation process, the metal wire between the surface and the mold surface of the lubricant film is necessary to reduce friction, to reduce die wear and keep the die to cool.
In order to get a good line of deformation, it is necessary to select an appropriate configuration file, either ferrous or non-ferrous material design drawing die.

Entry lubrication introduced, and the material is directed to the die deformation zone (narrow / bearings).

Reduction in general, hard materials (iron) requires emission angle smaller, softer materials (non-ferrous) the need for greater emission angle. Including the angular range of 8 ° -30 °, zone length (0.5 ~ 1) D (2-α) may be different.

Bearing this cilindrical part deformed wire calibrated to the desired size. Length depends on drawing support materials, and is designated as the hole diameter (0.3 ... 0.6) D percentage. In general, harder materials require a longer softer bearing. For bearing wear occurs when severe wear down area is not timely corrected.

Exit this area, deformation of the wire in such a tool exits the die head, to provide sufficient support for the axial stress occurs mechanical drawing.

Drawing die design tools required for the purposes of some of the transitions between different regions are perfect together, with a smaller radius of a harder material, softer larger radius. Relief, so-called, is often used as a highly polished transitional phase, so that the mold wires from the bearing to provide a smooth exit.

Die wear occurs mainly in the reduction zone, first worn by the point in the input wire contacts the die. The original mirror-polished surface of the mold, only small signs of wear. Then rapid wear, is characterized by the development of the "wear and tear or drawing ring." This mold tools must withdraw refurbished point of impact at the onset of wear.
